Larry Austin: Missouri Rehabilitation Association’s Client of the Year
November 24, 2021 | Written by: Lexi Pardee, CSL Development & Communications Coordinator
Larry first came to CSL in October 2020 to seek help from Employment Services. He was previously diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury from an assault, depression, and anxiety, appeared to have very poor self-esteem, and did not feel that he had any worth in the world. Through regular meetings between Larry and his coaches, he established a professional, updated resume and began applying for jobs.
Larry's ultimate employment goal was to work in the customer service field and is now employed at Swiss Colony Brands as a Customer Service Representative. Larry also utilized CSL’s Vocational Rehabilitation services. From struggling with car and house payments, Larry was able to obtain a new car and refinance his home.
Since working with CSL, Larry has obtained stable housing, employment, and affordable transportation. He shares: “My life has turned around and I couldn’t be happier.” On October 21, 2021, Larry was awarded Client of the Year from the Missouri Rehabilitation Association. This award recognizes an individual with a disability who has reached or is working towards their goals and deserves special mention and recognition for their endeavors. Larry is much deserving of this award and CSL continues to support his accomplishments.
